How kinetic energy is calculated
Kinetic energy increases linearly with mass and with the square of velocity. Doubling speed therefore makes kinetic energy four times larger.
KE = ½ × mass × velocity²

When mass is in kilograms and velocity is in meters per second, the result is in joules.
