How exact age is calculated
Age is a calendar difference rather than a simple number of days divided by 365. The calculation borrows days and months when needed, accounting for different month lengths and leap years.
Exact age = end date − birth date
Why totals can differ
A year may contain 365 or 366 days, and months vary from 28 to 31 days. That is why the calculator reports calendar units and total days separately.
